Indian Bazaar Painting:
A Bazaar is a marketplace, or area where goods and services are exchanged or sold. The word Bazaar, is believed to have Persian origins, but there is no mistaking the Bazaars of India. Often representing a variety of vendors the Bazaar consists of both established, reputable vendors and the not so reputable! You will see a mixture of Bazaars; the Jewel Bazaar, Fresh Food Bazaar, Fish Bazaar, Spice Bazaar – each with its own exotic smell, enchanting music and hustle and bustle.
The Indian Bazaar print captures a typical fresh food Bazaar, with fresh fruit and vegetables being displayed to entice passing trade. People en route to the Temple, may take fruit as offerings to the Temple, seen in the background. The canvas sheets providing shade from the beating midday sun, the washing from local residents let out to dry. The sights, sounds, and colours of the Bazaar.
